Pee Is for Pancreatitis and Other Discoveries

So this is what Dr. Carter did with my teefs!!!

This here is Howie

I woke maw and paw up last night with tummy bubbles and had to go to the Emergency 9-1-1 Vet. Dr. Quinn Who Adores Me ran some tests and said I had an eppy-sode of pancreatitis so I hafta switch to a low fat food. I am sitting here writing to yew from my first class accommodations at the vet center getting me summa them IV fluids today.

I do love being here at the vet center, the ladies are all real cute and they are always telling me I am a good boy and how handsome I am. At home all I hear is "HOWIE DO NOT PEE ON THE LEATHER COUCH" and "HOWIE DO NOT TEACH YOUR FOSTER BROTHER HOW TO OPEN THE REFRIGERATOR" and other such nonsense.

The bad news is I gotta go one more day without eating while all that gurgling settles down inside me. Maw is coming to pick me up tonight so I will be hero doggy at home, and everyone will let me get away with anything. Mebbe I will tell maw to make Annie sleep in the garage.

Maw said something about how this was a "teaching moment" (see why I like to go to the vet???) and I had to share this linky with everypuggy so here is your homework:

Ohh Howie, I am glad you get to go home tonight~ I am sure they won't care if you pee on the leather couch! They'll just be so happy to have you home! Are they going to put you on special enzymes for your pancreatitis? One of our rescue great dane's had it and had to be on special enzymes to help her. Enjoy being spoiled at the vet's office!

Hi Howie,
I'm glad to hear that they figured out what was wrong and are fixing you. Sluggo had that pancreatitis once, he was pretty sick. He got it after eating a pizza crust. He ruined it for everyone. That was my favorite treat and now we don't get any. Something about an eight hundred dollar pizza. Meh.

Mum says you get home and get well right now!

Poor Howie! So sorry to hear of your painful episode. My female Pug, Ruby, had a pancreatic attack in 2008 caused by bacteria in a rawhide bone. It was even a rawhide bone from an organic supplier. I no longer give her rawhide bones anymore and she has not had another attack since then.

Good luck to you and happy healing wee one!

Poor Howie! I am so sorry to hear of your painful experience! My female Pug, Ruby, had a severe pancreatic attack for the first time in 2008. It was caused by bacteria from a rawhide bone that I had given her! It was even a rawhide bone from an organic supplier!

Needless to say I never gave her another rawhide bone ever and since then she has not had another attack.

Hugs to you and best wishes in healing little on!
