Howie's Thoughts on Valentines and Romantical Things

Ever since I got this new tie from Aunty Laura, I've been rethinking the whole Valentine thing. After all, there is food involved, yes? Cuppycakes and crunchy heart candy thingies that occasionally fall on the floor to get eaten by mooo-wah... (That's french fur "me")!

Well then the Mom took off my new Valentine tie and said THIS TIE was fur going to WORK. WORK? what the heck is that? I been working fur Eduardo Snuggle Puggle, but accordin' to the terms of the Puggle Contract, I didn't have to actually go nowhere fur that.

I mean, yes, I did some PERCH NAPPIN fur the Snuggle Puggle, which was actually multi-taskin cuz I was fartin too. But this whole GO TO work thing has me pur-plexed. Do they have food at this place called work?

Remembering Two Little Angels

Gracie

Winnie loved her Aunty Sharon, who brought
her beautiful prezzies, like this velour blue dress.

Winnie says thanks fur the dress Aunty Sharon!

One more smoochy for Aunty Sharon,
who color coordinated her wardrobe with Wiggles.

These are some of my favorite pictures from April 2005 when Sharon and her little Gracie came over for a playdate. Sharon always brought presents for the puggies, and Winnie Wiggles is pictured wearing the lovely velour dress Sharon brought her. Winnie especially loved the dress Sharon brought her because it showed off her rolls and rolls of jiggley loveliness.

Winnie and Gracie both went to the rainbow bridge last year, leaving broken hearts and many tears in their wake. Sharon and I miss our girls, but we remember them every day with so much love. These pictures always make me smile. They captured such happy moments.

Six Things That Make Howie Happy

Punchy sent me a note that I gotta report
six things that make me happy. I'm thinkin
real hard about it, and I think I got it now.

My friend the kibble container, he
makes me very happy. I like to spend
time with him in his pantry house from
time to time just to say hello.

Meaty muffins. yummmmmmmm. What's
not to like about meaty muffins? They got meat!
mmmm. They got muffin! mmmmmmm

Birthday cookies are also something that
make me real happy. Even if it's not my
birthday, if you were to say, send me a cookie,
I'd be real happy. Just speaking rhetorically that is.

Barkin at them dang birds. I do enjoy
doing that quite a bit.

Chewin on stuff I'm not sposed to be
chewin on always makes me happy.

Yummy chewy bones also happen to
make me very happy.

Here's my happy face. Mom says I had
just had a bath in this picture, but I don't
believe her fur a second. Why on earth
would I be happy about that???

Howie Survives Playdate With Ferocious Pug Puppies

From Howie:

Mom said I had to be on my best behavior
cuz Linus and his little sister are coming over
fur a meetup. This was the dressiest thing I own.
I don't know why she told me to put it back
and get my tie. sheesh.

From Anniebelly:

These are all the toys I'm not gonna share
with the puppies coming over today.

From Howie:

Life is very unfair to us puggies sometimes.

Scout and Jacqueline arrive, ready fur the playdate.

Linus is carried into the house like a little king by Dani

Linus showin Uncle Howie his good side

Much to Annie's consternation, Scout decides
Annie's toys are delishush

So, do you think this will earn us extra treats later?

Scout tells Linus that girls rule, and he should just get used to it.

Howie thinkin about hidin under the bed.

Okay you pups. Listen up to Uncle Howie.
When the cookie jar rattles,
run head over heels into the house and
knock over anydoggy that gets in your way.
That's the first lesson yew need to learn around here.

Scout sure does got some sharp teefies.

Mmmm, Scout's elbow tastes delishush!

From Uncle Java:
Um, you young folks might want to settle down a little.
Somepuggy could get hurt!

Uh oh, the little one in pink is looking me in the eye.

*GULP*

Scout discovers the weakest link!

The whole meetup crowd!

Meagan, Scout's mom; Dani holding Linus;
Susan getting smoochies from Howard;
Jacqueline giving Java a booster. What a great day!

Linus:

Hey peeps! Let's do this again tomorrow!
Right after my nap....

Valerie's Divadoggy Bloggy - A Must Woof...

Valerie goes to the beauty shop
every week to perfect her diva-do!

Valerie is very famous and sought
after and important artists have
painted her! ooo la la!!!

From Anniebelly

Calling all divadoggies! Valerie has launched her bloggy! Valerie is a 10 year old DivaDoggy princess who goes to the beauty shop with her mommy Amy once a week for pawdicures, brushies, and refreshing cucumber mist sprays. I have often mentioned to my mom that I need to be living the life of Valerie, but alas I am stuck here with the stinky boys. *stamps paw and steam comes out of Annie's little ears*

Use your thumbytoes and go visit Valerie's new blog and give her a woof and tell her Anniebelly Bossybritches sent you. When you get there you might just see somepuggy you recognize. I should warn you there is a picture of my brother Howie, too, but at least he is wearing a tie and doesn't have poop on his paws in that picture.

We love you Valerie! *blowing Valerie kisses*

Tomorrow we are getting a visit from Linus and his sister!
Tune in for some pictures of cute little fat puggy puppies....

Linus Training Program Payin' Off Big Time

From Howie:
Well everybuddy, Linus' trainin program is really payin off big time. You can see he is making lots of progress. His mama says he is almost ready to come meet me in person. Here is Linus progress report for his work this month in the Howard Pee Pugpants Program Fur Success.

This here is called the Tug Position. Linus
is doin' an excellent job of tuggin the hoomans
to the food bin. I give this one three goes up.

This here is Linus practicin' the I'm Gonna
Pounce on Yew position. It works real well
fur scarin off other puggies approachin
yer food bowl. As yew can imagine,
it is critical to puggy survival.
I give Linus four toes up fur this one.

And this here is the Make a Cute Puggey
Wuggey Face position. Now don't make fun,
even tough guys like me and Linus know
that the way to a mama's heart is with
the lovey dovey googley eyes. I give
Linus four toes up fur this one.

Heavenly Missive

Winnifred Wigglepants
The Jiggliest Angel in Heaven
16X20
Oil on Canvas

A year ago this morning my little velcro pug and constant companion Winnifred Wigglepants went to the rainbow bridge after a 3-month battle with GME encephalitis. I finished her portrait last night. It felt good to get my little angel onto canvas.

I've always had a superstition about pet portraits I do for the furbabies who have passed; the ones that jump onto the canvas quickly are anxious to get home to their families. Winnie was the fastest pet portait I've completed of its size.

There are so many dear friends who carried me through those dark days when Winnie was sick. And a compassionate friend at work who held me while I sobbed in her arms the day after Winnie passed. These are the ties that bind you to friends forever. And this is the kind of love Winnie brought into my life, and the lives of everyone she touched.

This painting is based on a photo that was taken of Winnie shortly after she won the Bluebonnet Pug Club Easter Hat contest in Dallas 3 years ago. She was a champion pug before she came to us, thanks to Louise Tran, who wanted her to live out her retirement with us in a pet home. I always felt I was in the presence of an older soul when I was with Winnie. There was a very strong love and presence that shown out of her. She was tiny, but feared nothing. I miss my angel and pray we will we meet again.

Heavenly Missive
My Ode To Wiggles
Whippy creme and scrambled eggs are
Way up here in Heaven
In case you too
See only blue and wonder what you're gettin
They're other things like angel wings
With fur that's never sheddin'.
There's no disease or achin knees
and wrinkles smooth and silken
I fall asleep and dream of you
and times when we were given
to sprint and run and tug on toys
and dash to mom for lovin.
Tonight no tears oh Howie dear
because I have been taken
I’ll kiss your cheek and whiskers sweet
And heal the ache within you.
The pain it fades and goes away
And even loss feels lighter
When time moves on then pushes back
All that separates us.

From Winnie's dogster diary, January 23, 2008

Winnie died this morning very early while she was in the care of the tech at the ICU. I think she was very tired. She was my brave girl and was such a big part of our lives. Please say a prayer that she is comforted now.

She loves breakfast-time so much. I hope that she is enjoying scrambley egg and a bowl of delicious kibble this morning and making the angels laugh with her roo roo roo morning song and breakfast time spinning.Who will wash Howie's face now? Who will sit on my feet when I am on the 'puter? Who will keep dad company in the kitchen when he is cooking? Our little one with such a big heart is gone, and it all happened so quickly and unexpectedly.

We were so blessed to have her with us for just 2 short years. What an extraordinary little dog she was.I told her last night it was okay to go - she was sitting up in her oxygen cage at the ICU for 2 days, waiting for me. She always sat and waited for me. The moment she laid down was when she passed. Please hug your babies for me today and say a prayer for angel Winnie. She was cherished.

Linus - The New Puggy Puppy on the Block

Linus the Pug Puppy
Has Signed up for the
Howard Pee Pugpants Plan Fur Success

Dear Linus:

This here is your uncle Howie. Mom said you came to your new home last week with her friend Susan and her hubby and their 2 little girls. We haven't met yet. Mama told Susan they should not expose you to me yet, because I am a bad influence. Have you ever heard such hooey in your life?? Well, mebbe not considering you jest fell off the turnip truck.

Now listen here, real closely, cuz there are important things you need to learn in order to be an upstanding puggy like me. Besides, Mama says I need to use my powers for good instead of evil, so here is my good deed of the day.

Eat as fast as yew can. Chewing is over-rated.

Snore loudly when you sleep. The peeps think it's cute
and it drives away bad influences like annoyin little sisters.

Wiggle your curley tailbun when the big peeps are eatin.
This is guaranteed to cause tablescraps to happen.

That's enough of the Plan for one day. I've been workin hard for the Snuggle Puggle lately so my thinker noggin is just plumb tuckered out. I'll be keepin toe tabs on yew so be sure to follow the Howard Pee Pugpants Plan Fur Success and you will go far.

Interview With Mister January - Oscar

When I got the call to pose for January for the Dallas Fort
Worth Pug Rescue calendar, of course I was flattered...

But let's face it - I'm one hunky, good lookin' pug!

Now the phone rings constantly with offers and
all my peeps wantin' auty-graphs. I hates to disappoint
anypuggy, but I'm busy supervising kitchen activities!
